Brahma temple, Pushkar-Rajasthan

Origins: Legend says Lord Brahma dropped three petals from his lotus, which formed Pushkar Lake; he chose the site to conduct a sacred yagna.






Architecture of the Temple

Materials & Style: Constructed using marble and stone slabs, showcasing traditional Rajasthani architectural style, highlighted by a vivid red shikhara and a hamsa (swan) motif—Brahma’s vehicle.
Layout:
Adjacent shrines include a small Shiva temple and views toward Savitri Temple on the hilltop
Elevated entrance leading to a mandapa (pillared hall), then the garbhagriha (sanctum)
Inside: a four-faced (Chaturmukha) Brahma idol with his consort Gayatri; walls decorated with silver coins offered by devotees; a silver turtle embedded in the floor for blessings
How to Reach to Temple
By Road: Pushkar is about 15 km from Ajmer, well connected via bus, taxi, or car from Jaipur and surrounding cities.
By Rail: Nearest major station is Ajmer Junction. Pushkar has a smaller station but fewer trains.
By Air: The closest airport is Jaipur (Sanganer), approximately 140–150 km away.
Once in Pushkar, the temple is easily walkable or reachable by local rickshaw near Pushkar Lake.
