Matangeshwar Temple, Khajuraho

The temple enshrines a self-manifested (swayambhu) Shivling.

Architecture of the Temple

Built in the Nagara style, but simpler compared to other Khajuraho temples.
The temple has:
- A Garbhagriha (sanctum) housing the massive Lingam.
- A small Mandapa (hall) for devotees.
- A Shikhara (tower) that rises above the sanctum.
The absence of ornate carvings gives it a plain yet powerful spiritual atmosphere.
The temple stands close to the Western Group of Temples in Khajuraho.
