Sree Pariyanampatta Bhagavathy Temple, also known as Riyanampatta Bhagavathy Temple, is a revered temple over 1,400 years old, dedicated to Bhagavathy, the divine Mother Goddess, widely worshipped as the Goddess of 14 Desams (regions).
The origin legend speaks of a Namboothiri who, after receiving blessings at the Mookambika Temple in Kollur, discovered the idol—or thidambu—in his own bundle while resting at Pariyanampatta. He immediately installed it there, with participation from chieftains of 14 desams under the guidance of the Thantri of Ikkaattumanakkal

Significance of the Temple

It is one of the most prominent Devi shrines in Valluvanad Desam (Palakkad region). The temple’s resemblance to Kollur’s Mookambika adds to its spiritual aura.
Worship at this temple often invokes the Goddess in three forms: Saraswati in the morning, Bhadra Kali at noon, and Lakshmi/Vana Durga in the evening.

Architecture of the Temple

The temple spans one acre within a larger 8-acre complex, featuring:

Intricate wood carvings of the Ashta Dikpalayas surrounding the Sree Chakra and motifs of Bhadrakali flanked by elephants adorn the mandapam entrance

Sreekovil (sanctum), Mukha Mandapam, flagstaff (dhwajam), lamp-post (deepasthambam), sub-shrines, kitchen (thidapalli), dining hall (ootupura), and resting area (agrasala).

How to Reach to Temple

By Road: Kattukulam is about 17 km from Ottapalam. The temple is well-connected via KSRTC and private buses.

By Rail: Nearest railhead is Palakkad Railway Station, approximately 31–35 km away.

By Air: Coimbatore International Airport is the closest, at around 96–101 km distance
