Mythological Significance & History

According to local legend, Hanuman Tok marks the spot where Lord Hanuman rested while carrying the Sanjeevani herb from the Himalayas to Lanka during the Ramayana war to save Lord Lakshmana. The temple was established in 1950 and has since become a popular spiritual and tourist destination.
Over time, the Indian Army took responsibility for maintaining the temple, ensuring that it remains a pristine and welcoming space for devotees and visitors alike.

By Train: The closest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP) in West Bengal, about 120 km from Gangtok. Taxis and shared cabs are available from there.
