Govind Devji Temple

Location & Dedication: A revered shrine dedicated to Radha-Govind (Lord Krishna), located between Badal Mahal and Chandra Mahal within the Jaipur City Palace in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
Origins & Deity’s Journey: The idol, crafted by Bajranabh—Krishna’s great-grandson—was originally worshipped in Vrindavan. It was shifted to Jaipur by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in the 18th century, following divine guidance in a dream.

Significance of the Temple

The temple is a major center for Vaishnavite worship, closely associated with royal devotion and Gaudiya traditions. It’s said Baladeva Vidyabhushana, a Vaishnava philosopher, composed his commentary on the Brahma Sutras here after divine inspiration from Govind Dev Ji.
Popular festivals celebrated here include Janmashtami, Radhashtami, Holi, Gopashtami, Sharad Purnima, and Kartik Purnima.

Architecture of the Temple

Blended Style: The temple reflects a mix of Rajasthani, Mughal, and classical Indian architectural elements. Built with red sandstone, marble, a gold-adorned ceiling, intricate carvings, painted murals, and elegant chandeliers. Marble-pillared sanctum exudes regal charm.

Satsang Hall: The temple houses a Guinness World Record–holding Satsang Hall, renowned for its widest single-span RCC flat roof (approx. 118 ft × 124 ft), constructed using 2,000 m³ concrete and 290 tons of steel over 383 days.

Within City Palace: Easily accessible within palace grounds near Jaleb Chowk.

By Air: ~12 km from Jaipur International Airport; 30–35 min by cab or auto.

By Train: ~4–5 km from Jaipur Junction; 15–20 min drive.

By Metro/Bus: Nearest metro—Badi Chaupar (~950 m, 13 min walk). Nearest bus—Sindhi Camp (~3.5 km). Local autos and rickshaws are convenient options.
