Lingaraj Temple

Lingaraj Temple, located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, is one of the oldest and most iconic temples in India. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, worshipped here as Lingaraja (meaning “King of Lingas”), the temple also integrates elements of Lord Vishnu—making it a unique symbol of Harihara, a combined form of Shiva and Vishnu.

“यदाद्रि की पावन भूमि पर हर श्वास में नरसिंह का आशीर्वाद समाया है।”

― Lingaraj Temple

Constructed in the 11th century CE by the Somavamsi dynasty under King Jajati Keshari, the temple stands as the most prominent landmark of the city.
