Alampur Jogulamba Temple

The Alampur Jogulamba Temple is dedicated to Goddess Jogulamba, a fierce form of Shakti, and is counted among the eighteen Maha Shakti Peethas, sacred shrines of immense importance in Shaktism.

Located in Alampuram (Hemalapuram), Telangana, the temple is part of a revered temple complex that also houses the ancient Navabrahma Temples, built along the Tungabhadra River near its confluence with the Krishna.

Mythological Significance & History

Originating in the 7th century CE under the Badami Chalukya dynasty, the original structure was destroyed around 1390 CE by the Bahmani Sultanate.
. The idol of Goddess Jogulamba was temporarily relocated to the nearby Balabrahmeswara Temple before the temple was reconstructed in 2005 on its original site

Significance of the Temple

As per legend, this site marks where Sati’s upper teeth (dhadasi) fell—granting it sanctity as a Shakti Peetha. The name “Jogulamba” stems from “Yogula Amma” meaning “Mother of Yogis,” symbolizing the goddess’s power to grant spiritual and yogic prowess . Devotees believe worshipping here can remedy vasthu doshas, drishti doshas, and bring general wellbeing

Architecture of the Temple

The temple presents a blend of Nagara-style and Kakatiya influences, echoing the architectural legacy of the Chalukyan period . It stands on a raised platform with a spacious mandapa and sanctum, and features a water tank used ritually by pilgrims
