Mythological Significance & History

According to legend, the temple stands at the spot where Pandava brothers built a shrine for Lord Hanuman during the Mahabharata period.
The present structure was renovated in 1724 by Maharaja Jai Singh, the ruler of Jaipur.
A unique feature of this temple is the continuous chanting of the Sri Ram–Jai Ram–Jai Jai Ram mantra, which has been going on for decades, earning the temple a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The temple has been a key spiritual landmark in Delhi for centuries.

Significance of the Temple

The temple is believed to be one of the four ancient temples of Delhi mentioned in the great epic Mahabharata.
Devotees believe that visiting Hanuman Mandir removes obstacles, evil influences, and brings courage, strength, and protection.
The temple has a continuous Rama Naam chanting tradition, symbolizing eternal devotion.
Special importance is given to Tuesdays and Saturdays, when the temple witnesses huge crowds of devotees offering vermillion, flowers, and sweets to Lord Hanuman.

Architecture of the Temple

The temple features a Shikhara (spire) that has a unique crescent moon symbol instead of the traditional Hindu trident or kalash, making it distinct.

The sanctum houses a majestic idol of Lord Hanuman adorned with sindoor (vermilion) and garlands.

Walls and ceilings are decorated with paintings from Ramayana and Mahabharata, showcasing Hanuman’s devotion and heroic deeds.

The temple also has smaller shrines dedicated to Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshman
