the temple holds immense spiritual value for millions. The name “Sankat Mochan” literally means “Reliever of Troubles.”

Mythological Significance & History

The temple was founded by Goswami Tulsidas, the great saint and author of the Ramcharitmanas, in the 16th century.
It is believed that Tulsidas had a divine vision of Lord Hanuman at this very spot and was instructed to build a temple.
Over the centuries, the temple has become a powerful center of devotion, prayer, and healing for devotees.

Significance of the Temple

Considered one of the most auspicious temples to pray for relief from problems related to health, finances, and fear.
Especially powerful for devotees seeking courage, strength, and success, especially students and job seekers.
Devotees believe that reciting Hanuman Chalisa here has miraculous effects.
The temple is one of the few places where devotees offer sindoor (vermilion) directly to the deity.
Tuesdays and Saturdays are considered the most sacred days for Hanuman darshan.

Architecture of the Temple

Built in simple Nagara-style architecture, the temple has a peaceful atmosphere.

The main idol of Lord Hanuman is in standing posture, covered in bright orange sindoor, with folded hands.

The temple premises also house idols of Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshman, forming a spiritual Ram Darbar.

By Air: The closest airport is Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport (26 km) from the temple. accessible via Mathura-Vrindavan road (approx. 10 km from Mathura city).

By Road: Located in the Lanka area of Varanasi; auto-rickshaws and cabs are easily available.

By Train: Nearest railway station is Varanasi Junction (BSB), approximately 6 km away.

By Train: Nearest railway station is Mathura Junction (MTJ). From there, take a rickshaw or taxi.
