Mythological Significance & History

According to Hindu mythology, the temple marks the spot where the torso of Goddess Sati fell when Lord Vishnu cut her body into 51 parts to calm the grief-stricken Lord Shiva. These body parts fell at different locations across the Indian subcontinent, creating the 51 Shakti Peethas. Chandrabadani is one of these sacred Shakti Peethas. The temple is considered deeply sacred and holds great historical and mythological importance.

Significance of the Temple

The temple is especially significant for devotees of Goddess Durga and Shakti. It is believed that visiting this shrine fulfills wishes and removes obstacles from one’s life. The site is also spiritually powerful due to its association with Sati’s sacrifice and the divine cosmic energy of the Goddess.
