Thousand Pillar Temple, Hanamkonda

It venerates Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Surya, and is locally known as a Trikutalayam—a temple with three sanctums dedicated to these deities.

Architecture of the Temple

The temple boasts a star-shaped platform, supporting richly carved pillars with no obstruction to view lines toward deities.
Style: a fusion of Chalukyan and early Kakatiyan (Vesara) design.
Highlights include rock-cut elephants, lathe-turned granite sculptures, perforated screens, Nava Rangamandapa (hall) with dolerite carvings, and a massive monolith Nandi statue carved from black basalt.
A sandbox technique was used for the foundational base—an advanced Kakatiya engineering approach ensuring structural stability.
