Humble Pranams at the Lotus feet. Sairam! My son, G. Deepak, was diagnosed as dyslexic with learning disability and hyperactive disorder at the age of 4 years. As parents we had a tough time handling his studies and clumsy daily activities, since he was abnormally lacking time consciousness. When he was in 4th standard he was sent to the nearby Bal Vikas class. In the beginning he never listened in the class and found narrating even small stories very cumbersome. He was cajoled and literally pushed to attend the Bal Vikas class every Sunday. Slowly, with the constant encouragement of the Bal Vikas guru, he gained interest in going to Bal Vikas on every Sundays, and started chanting slokas though it was difficult for him to write. As days passed, guru started giving him small assignments for which he started writing small sentences on his own in his Bal Vikas note. This was a real turning point in his life. As he became 13-14 years his attitudinal change was more pronounced in a way that he started considering all his hidden difficulties as a challenge and found solace in praying to Swami during crisis. The clarity in his thoughts could be seen on his face. Even though the difficulty in studies persisted, his character changed a lot from a moody, sad and angry child to a bright, loving, helpful and sociable teenager. He passed 10th standard from CBSE Board with a 63% mark, a thing which we parents never imagined about a child who could not even write a sentence within a time span of 30 minutes. He is now 19 years old. He has passed 12th standard state board and has joined Engineering College. He is very kind hearted and goes to any extent in helping elders and sick people. He is very lovable and an acceptable person in the neighborhood. He will be there in all the social activities where his help is needed. He respects elders and finds no ego in accepting mistakes. From my heart I can say that these good traits and values which Deepak has acquired are attributable to the acceptance and encouragement he got from the Bal Vikas class. I owe this drastic change in his life to Sathya Sai Bal Vikas in full and to the Bal Vikas gurus in particular. I humbly salute my Lord Sai for all Swami has done to my boy. |
