Ramappa Gudi, Palampet

It’s located in Palampet village, Mulugu district, Telangana—roughly 77 km from Warangal and 209 km from Hyderabad.

Architecture of the Temple

Raised on a 6-foot-high star-shaped platform, it includes a garbhagriha (sanctum), antarala, and maha mandapa.
The shikhara (vimana) is made of ultra-light porous “floating” bricks that remarkably float on water—a unique engineering feat.
Foundations use sandbox technology—layers of sand, lime, jaggery, and myrobalan fruit—to withstand earthquakes.
Intricate carvings across pillars, ceilings, and walls depict dancers, mythological motifs, lotus designs, Gajavyala and madanikas (female dancer figures). Bracket figures in black basalt are exceptional examples of Kakatiya artistry.
Legend says some pillars produce musical tones when struck, and others bear delicate, needle-thin perforations.
