History of Shri Sravani Temple Shakti Peeth

The temple was established centuries ago when sages discovered the site through divine manifestations and built a shrine to honor the fallen spine of Goddess Sati . While the exact dates of its founding are not well documented, it has been maintained through successive renovations that preserve its spiritual and architectural legacy

Significance of the Temple

As one of the Shakti Peethas, Shri Sravani Temple is considered a potent spiritual site where the spine (support and consciousness) of Sati fell
Devotees believe that offering prayers here inspires spiritual strength, support, and inner resilience.
Rituals include early morning prayers, ritual bathing in the sacred Kumari Kunda, offering red cloth, flowers, vermillion, performing abhishek (ritual bathing of the deity), and chanting the Devi Mahatmya
The temple sees its grandest celebrations during Navaratri, with devotional music, special pujas, and cultural events accentuating divine energy.


Architecture of Shri Sravani Temple

The temple showcases classic Bengali architecture, with a curved roof and intricate brickwork, infused with Islamic-influenced arches—reflecting the cultural blend of the region

The structure includes a main shrine, smaller shrines, and a sacred water tank (Kumari Kunda) enveloped by peaceful natural surroundings.

Its walls display stone carvings and mythological panels, while notable artifacts—like ancient bronze statues, ritual vessels, and oil lamps—are housed within.

Built with a traditional mix of limestone mortar, jaggery, and urad dal, the temple has remained resilient against earthquakes over centuries.
