Lingashtakam ( लिङ्गाष्टकम् )

ब्रह्ममुरारिसुरार्चितलिङ्गं निर्मलभासितशोभितलिङ्गम् ।
जन्मजदुःखविनाशकलिङ्गं तत् प्रणमामि सदाशिवलिङ्गम् ॥१॥

I bow to that Sada Shiva Linga,
which is worshipped by Brahma, Vishnu (Murari) and all the gods,
which shines with a pure, divine radiance,
and which destroys the sorrows of birth and death.

जिस शिवलिंग की पूजा ब्रह्मा, विष्णु (मुरारी) और सभी देवगण करते हैं,
जो पवित्र प्रकाश से शोभायमान है,
जो जन्म और मृत्यु के दुःखों का नाश करता है,
मैं उस सदाशिवलिंग को प्रणाम करता हूँ।

देवमुनिप्रवरार्चितलिङ्गं कामदहं करुणाकरलिङ्गम् ।
रावणदर्पविनाशनलिङ्गं तत् प्रणमामि सदाशिवलिङ्गम् ॥२॥

I bow to that Sada Shiva Linga,
which is worshipped by the greatest of gods and sages,
which burned the pride of Kamadeva and is full of compassion,
and which destroyed the arrogance of Ravana.

जिस शिवलिंग की पूजा श्रेष्ठ देवता और ऋषि-मुनि करते हैं,
जो कामदेव के अहंकार को जलाने वाला और करुणा का सागर है,
जिसने रावण के अभिमान का नाश किया,
मैं उस सदाशिवलिंग को प्रणाम करता हूँ।

सर्वसुगन्धिसुलेपितलिङ्गं बुद्धिविवर्धनकारणलिङ्गम् ।
सिद्धसुरासुरवन्दितलिङ्गं तत् प्रणमामि सदाशिवलिङ्गम् ॥३॥

I bow to that Sada Shiva Linga,
which is adorned with all kinds of fragrant pastes,
which is the source of wisdom and intelligence,
and which is worshipped by siddhas, gods, and demons alike.

जो शिवलिंग विविध सुगंधित चंदन और लेप से सुशोभित है,
जो बुद्धि और ज्ञान को बढ़ाने का कारण है,
जिसकी पूजा सिद्ध, देवता और असुर सभी करते हैं,
मैं उस सदाशिवलिंग को प्रणाम करता हूँ।

कनकमहामणिभूषितलिङ्गं फणिपतिवेष्टितशोभितलिङ्गम् ।
दक्षसुयज्ञविनाशनलिङ्गं तत् प्रणमामि सदाशिवलिङ्गम् ॥४॥

I bow to that Sada Shiva Linga,
which is decorated with gold and precious gems,
which shines beautifully, being encircled by the king of serpents,
and which destroyed the sacrificial ritual of Daksha.

जो शिवलिंग स्वर्ण और महान रत्नों से भूषित है,
जो नागराज (शेषनाग) से लिपटा हुआ शोभायमान है,
जिसने दक्ष के यज्ञ का विनाश किया था,
मैं उस सदाशिवलिंग को प्रणाम करता हूँ।

कुङ्कुमचन्दनलेपितलिङ्गं पङ्कजहारसुशोभितलिङ्गम् ।
सञ्चितपापविनाशनलिङ्गं तत् प्रणमामि सदाशिवलिङ्गम् ॥५॥

I bow to that Sada Shiva Linga,
which is anointed with saffron and sandalwood paste,
which is beautifully adorned with garlands of lotuses,
and which destroys all accumulated sins.

जो शिवलिंग कुमकुम और चंदन से सुशोभित है,
जो कमल के हार से अलंकृत होकर सुंदर लगता है,
जो संचित पापों का विनाश करने वाला है,
मैं उस सदाशिवलिंग को प्रणाम करता हूँ।

देवगणार्चितसेवितलिङ्गं भावैर्भक्तिभिरेव च लिङ्गम् ।
दिनकरकोटिप्रभाकरलिङ्गं तत् प्रणमामि सदाशिवलिङ्गम् ॥६॥

I bow to that Sada Shiva Linga,
which is worshipped and served by hosts of gods,
which can be realized only through devotion and faith,
and which shines with the brilliance of millions of suns

जो शिवलिंग देवगणों द्वारा पूजित और सेवित है,
जो भाव और भक्ति से ही प्राप्त किया जा सकता है,
जो करोड़ों सूर्यों के समान तेजस्वी है,
मैं उस सदाशिवलिंग को प्रणाम करता हूँ।

अष्टदलोपरिवेष्टितलिङ्गं सर्वसमुद्भवकारणलिङ्गम् ।
अष्टदरिद्रविनाशितलिङ्गं तत् प्रणमामि सदाशिवलिङ्गम् ॥७॥

I bow to that Sada Shiva Linga,
which is surrounded by eight lotus petals,
which is the source and cause of all creation,
and which destroys the eight forms of poverty and misfortune.

जो शिवलिंग आठ दलों (कमल दल) से घिरा हुआ है,
जो समस्त सृष्टि का मूल कारण है,
जो आठ प्रकार की दरिद्रता का नाश करने वाला है,
मैं उस सदाशिवलिंग को प्रणाम करता हूँ।

सुरगुरुसुरवरपूजितलिङ्गं सुरवनपुष्पसदार्चितलिङ्गम् ।
परात्परं परमात्मकलिङ्गं तत् प्रणमामि सदाशिवलिङ्गम् ॥८॥

I bow to that Sada Shiva Linga,
which is worshipped by Brihaspati (the Guru of the Devas) and the greatest of gods,
which is eternally adorned with celestial forest flowers,
and which is the Supreme among the supreme, the very embodiment of the Supreme Soul.

जो शिवलिंग देवताओं के गुरु बृहस्पति और श्रेष्ठ देवताओं द्वारा पूजित है,
जो स्वर्गीय वन के दिव्य पुष्पों से सदा अर्चित है,
जो परम से भी परम, परमात्मा स्वरूप है,
मैं उस सदाशिवलिंग को प्रणाम करता हूँ।

लिङ्गाष्टकमिदं पुण्यं यः पठेत् शिवसन्निधौ ।
शिवलोकमवाप्नोति शिवेन सह मोदते ॥

Whoever recites this sacred Lingashtakam Stotra in the presence of Lord Shiva
attains Shivaloka (the abode of Shiva) and rejoices in eternal bliss with Lord Shiva Himself.

जो व्यक्ति इस पवित्र लिंगाष्टक स्तोत्र का पाठ शिवजी के समीप बैठकर करता है,
वह शिवलोक को प्राप्त करता है और भगवान शिव के साथ आनंदपूर्वक निवास करता है।
