Shri Jai Durga Temple Shakti Peetha

It is situated in Sugandha village near Barisal (now Jhalokathi district) in southern Bangladesh. This holy site holds immense spiritual significance for both Shakta (Devi) and Shaiva (Shiva) devotees, and it continues to draw pilgrims despite its remote location and modern-day border divisions.

Temple Architecture

The present temple structure is relatively simple compared to other grand Indian Shaktipeeths but holds deep sanctity. Due to regional limitations and historical turmoil, the architecture remains modest, yet spiritually vibrant.
Features:
The original structure has been restored multiple times, especially after facing neglect during political unrest.
Traditional Bengali terracotta-style design with red-brick exteriors.
A small sanctum (garbhagriha) where the idol of Maa Jai Durga resides.
Surrounding areas include ancient water ponds (kunds) and smaller shrines to other deities.
