The Navgrah Mandir, or Temple of the Nine Planets, is a sacred shrine dedicated to the Navagrahas — the nine celestial deities or planetary forces that influence human destiny according to Vedic astrology. The word “Navgrah” comes from Sanskrit, where “Nav” means nine and “Grah” means planet. These nine cosmic powers are Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Mangal (Mars), Budh (Mercury), Guru or Brihaspati (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), Shani (Saturn), Rahu (North Lunar Node), and Ketu (South Lunar Node). Each of these celestial beings governs specific aspects of life such as health, wealth, intelligence, emotions, and karma.
