Sevadal

Divine Words of wisdom by Sathya Sai Baba – On Sevadal 1.Sevadal should never enter into politics: Guidelines to the Members of the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation Your browser does not support the audio element. 1996-07-31 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description The members of Sevadal participating either in samithi or as Sevadal or in bhajan activity or in study circle or in any other field must not enter into politics. Love all and serve all!! The Sevadal should not differentiate based on religion, caste or party and within themselves they should not give room to any party feelings. One should try to understand that the essence of all religions is the oneness of everything. Sevadals must live together as brothers and sisters. There are two things that an organisation should achieve: 1- “The brotherhood of man” – to think that all are brothers, 2- “Fatherhood of God”- One must believe that all are the children of one God. One must develop the feeling of love that all are the children of one mother. When one develops such love for fellow beings, there would be no scope for feelings of hatred or envy. Nobody should give scope for Feelings of personal hatred. When working in an organisation, one must consider all others as one’s siblings. Embodiments of Love!! There might have been differences of opinions in the past among the Sevadal, but from the present moment, one must set aside the feelings of animosity and greet each other warmly “Sairam” and lead good lives. But merely saying “Sairam” since Swami has said so is of no use. One must not lead artificial lives. Some lead such lives; when they see people liked by them they go out of their way to greet them with “Sairam” in a loving manner. When they see a person whom they don’t like, they greet with a very a curt “Sairam”. There must be no difference or distinction made in greeting others. One’s words must be soft and sweet for that is the quintessence of God head. Greet everyone lovingly. One must remember: one cannot always oblige but can always speak obligingly. One must fill one’s words, behaviour, actions and heart with sweetness. One must usher in the era of new living into the world.

Sai Organization

Divine Words of wisdom by Sathya Sai Baba – On Sai Organization 1. Swami’s guidelines to leaders of the organisation and Sevadal Your browser does not support the audio element. 1984-11-21 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description As long as one is alive, one must participate in Seva at least for a few hours every day. Workers and Sevaks have been serving wholeheartedly and with full confidence. But some of the leaders are not giving enough impetus and encouragement to them. Leaders must lead from front, but these leaders are pushing from behind. Some of the so called leaders do not lead from front causing disappointment and disinterest in the workers. Swami hopes that the leaders will lead from front at least in future. This is not to say that all leaders are like this, only some are. But in Sathya Sai organisations there must be no room for such kinks. Members must be cent percent, true Sevaks. The second aspect: the members of Sevadal participating either in samithi or in Sevadal or in bhajan activity or in study circle or in any other field must not enter into politics. Love all and serve all!! The Sevadal should not differentiate based on religion or party and within themselves they should not give room to any party feelings. One should try to understand that the essence of all religions is the oneness of everything. Sevadal must live together as brothers and sisters. There are two things that this organisation should achieve: 1- “The brotherhood of man” – to think that all are brothers, 2- “Fatherhood of God”- the belief that all are the children of one God. One must develop the love that all are the children of one mother. When one develops such love for fellow beings, there would be no scope for feelings of hatred or envy. Feelings of personal hatred should not be given any scope. When working in an organisation, one must consider all others as his siblings.

Man

Divine Words of wisdom by Sathya Sai Baba – On Man 1. Who is true human being Your browser does not support the audio element. 1996-06-22 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description Who is a human being? Is it the one with a physical form having legs and hands? Do not mistake the fruits of silk cotton tree as mango fruits, Do not mistake small white stones to a sugar candy, Do not mistake the useless straw to sugarcane and chew it, Do not be deceived by the external appearances, Character alone is the true nature of human!! When one tries to see the character, the real human nature is not seen in people. Therefore, people should realize how sacred, how pure and ideal the human life is. In this context that it is said, “Jantoonam nara janma durlabham”, meaning, of all the types of living beings it is very difficult and rare to be born as a human being.   2. Man is important and not money Your browser does not support the audio element. 1996-11-22 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description Today’s man, whatever he is listening or seeing, he does it out of selfishness and self interest. He loves the world because of his own selfish interests , he doesn’t love the world for the sake of the world. He loves a particular person not for the person’s sake, but for his own sake. If you enquire this way, you will find selfishness, selfishness and only selfishness. It is necessary to be selfish, but it should be within limits.   4. Born as a human behave like one

His Life

Divine Words of wisdom by Sathya Sai Baba – On HIS Life 1. Swami always look for your feelings; Different examples from Mythology Your browser does not support the audio element. 1996-07-31 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description More than the Vedas, it is very essential to understand the teachings of Vedanta. The path of love is much easier than the practice of soft repetition of the Name (japa), meditation, yoga, etc. God is not interested in knowing how many bags of rice and how many saris you distributed to the poor. You may send this list of items to the income tax department. What I am interested in is only your feelings. Even if you perform a small act of charity, I see your feelings behind it. I am not interested in the number of saris and bags of rice that you distribute. Swami values only quality. Rukmini could earn the grace of Krishna by offering only a leaf of tulasi. Kuchela could earn the grace and love of Krishna by offering Him a fistful of beaten rice. What did Draupadi do when she had to feed Sage Durvasa and his one thousand disciples when she had nothing with her? She offered a grain of rice left in the cooking pot to Krishna and prayed to Him, “You are our only refuge.” When Krishna put that grain of rice in His mouth, immediately the hunger of Durvasa and his disciples was satiated. In the times of every Avatar, there are such instances of devotees earning the infinite grace of the Lord by making small offerings with devotion and love. Therefore, get rid of the impurity of your mind. Destroy your ego. Learn to make offerings of love. Only then will you have the good fortune of experiencing Bliss (Ananda). 2.Don’t try to understand Me, experience Me Your browser does not support the audio element. 1987-10-02 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description In-spite of listening to several discourses, despite spending long spells of time in participating spiritual workshops, and even after listening to divine discourses for over 30, 40, or even 50 years, mindset remains the same! With miscellaneous content collated from newspapers, magazines and some books, people are filling their brain space but not attempting at filling their hearts with love. They are merely listening but not putting efforts to taste the bliss in it. You have been living in the ashram premises for several years. If you introspect within yourself, you will realize that there has been no change whatsoever that has taken place in your mindset! What is the reason? If you take a rounded pebble (gundu) and put it in water, you will notice that not a tiny drop of water makes its way into the pebble because it is impervious. Same is the case here. In a hard-stone hearted person, how can sacred love soak into his heart! 4. Divine alone has will power

Forbearance

Divine Words of wisdom by Sathya Sai Baba – On Forbearance 1. Foster good thoughts and develop kshama Your browser does not support the audio element. 2000-05-25 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description Embodiments of Love! Drive away bad thoughts and make room for good and noble ones. Through sacred thoughts, foster kshama. This will give you multiple capabilities, enabling you to transform your life into an ideal one. Study of books alone will not enhance your capability; they will merely provide you with superficial or bookish knowledge. This obviously is not enough. Real capability and strength come by tapping the Inner Power latent in you. All that is outside is artificial. Real truth and power are both inside, in your heart. It is the heart that must be strengthened, but, unaware of this fact, people become furiously active in the external world, only to get lost there. There are many types of food catering to the needs of the gross body but what about food for the heart? That food can be obtained only when you turn your head toward God. You must understand the subtle linkages here – food, head, and God.

Day to day

Divine Words of wisdom by Sathya Sai Baba – On Day to day 1. How and when does the vibration enter the baby’s body: Swami reveals the secret Your browser does not support the audio element. 1996-07-31 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description Students can understand the interpretation of subtle aspects. One must never be a lover. A lover How can one say that the body is matter? The doctors too can dwell on the question as to how this body can be considered as matter. Four Lux soaps, nine two-inch nails, two buckets of water, one bucket of lime, phosphorus present in nine hundred matchsticks, lead present in five pencils, Zinc present in eight battery cells- all together constitute the body. The total worth of the matter is not even two rupees. A body worth millions is made with the matter that is worth two rupees. The body can be made with these materials, where from does the vibration come to the body? That is the principle of Brahma. The body, which is made up of matter, gets its vibration in the mother’s womb when it is but four months and nine days old. The vibration, the life force starts the life then. Till then the foetus is like a foot ball. The shape is not oval but the shape of foot ball. The moment the vibration enters, the ball gets the movement. As it starts to move, it acquires oval shape. From where does the vibration come? Is the mother sending it inside? Nobody can send it in. The energy from the matter starts within. Body is the result of the matter and the energy. The body encases the essence of Brahman and Maya and so the combination of Brahma and Maya results in Tarakam. There are subtle secrets in Vedanta. People consider such principle as human. It is not simply human, but it is Brahman. may love one or two. The lover is very low class. One must become love itself! When one becomes love, one can love any number of people. A lover can only love one or two. Hence one must never become a lover but must become love. When man becomes love, he is loved by everyone and then alone can one understand the feeling of the one Atma, of oneness. Love is uniform in everyone. Vedanta teaches this principle of love extensively. If love is not there in each and everything, then it is not possible to acquire it. So what sort of love must one have? It is not the love at the body or mind level. One must love God in every way and in every perspective. When one does so, the unnecessary things will vanish on their own accord. This is called as the doctrine of non-dualism. There is a sugar cane. It has many bends. A sugar cane may have many bends but the juice does not have any bends. One’s thoughts, too, may be haphazard, but one must seek to develop love within. The juice does not have any bends. That is “Raso Vai Saha”- the essence is Brahma; that is the principle of Brahman. That juice is the Divinity. God is in the form of ‘rasa’, the essence. It is not ‘Paadarasa’ the mercury but it is ‘Premarasa’ the juice of love. Mercury is called as ‘Padarasa’ in Telugu. Mercury when put on ground does not flow as one unit but breaks into small balls. But the ‘Premarasa’, the essence of love joins everything.

Meaning of Dheeyoh Yonah Prachodayath Your browser does not support the audio element. 1996-06-21 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description Shraddha, Rutham, Sathyam, yoga and mighty power are the five components of the sacred intellect. This intellect or buddhi is depicted in the Gayatri mantra as “Dheeyoyonah prachodayath”. Just as the sunlight dispels the darkness of the world, so also the light of the intellect dispels the darkness of ignorance in oneself.

Youth

Divine Words of wisdom by Sathya Sai Baba – On Youth 1. I will explain Vedanta extensively to you all Your browser does not support the audio element. 1996-07-31 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description Bhagawan has started Vedanta in a simple way today. Every word and mantra in it has got immense meaning. Vedantam is very easy to understand. Bhagawan will explain every word in detail so as to make every one understand it. Ultimately the entire essence of Vedanta would not even be an inch long but within it there are about fifteen thousand mantras. Bhagawan says that He would show it. This explanation can be given only by God himself and not possible by others. 2. What is Amanaskamu in Vedanta Your browser does not support the audio element. 1996-07-31 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description What is meant by ‘Tarakam’? It is ‘Khechari’, ‘Vechari’, ‘Madhyama’ and the true essence ‘Bhagawati’. One must try to analyse the essence of these four aspects. What is the meaning of ‘Tarakam’? Many people have described it in many ways. There are five signs in this. One should know clearly the five signs, ‘Pancha Mudras’. One should know these five signs, research and investigate them properly, experience them, then determine the necessary and the unnecessary and brush aside the unnecessary; have a vision of Nadabindu and realise the ‘hamsatwa’, later on experience the state of sath-chit-ananda on earth—this sums up ‘Tarakam’. Immersing and concentrating the human mind in the principle of sath-chit-ananda, the ultimate bliss is called as ‘Tarakam’.   4. As is your feeling so is your vision
