This sacred temple is not only a part of Shaktipeeth tradition but is also one of the 51 Maha Shaktipeethas mentioned in the Tantric texts. Architecture of the Temple The architecture of the temple is a unique blend of Bengali Ek-ratna (single spire) style and Tripuri tribal craftsmanship. The temple structure is built in the shape of a square edifice with a pyramidal dome above the sanctum. Architectural Features: The temple faces west, which is unique and spiritually symbolic. Red sandstone and white dome, representing both Shakti and purity. A sacred pond called Kalyan Sagar lies just beside the temple, filled with large tortoises and fishes which are considered sacred. It sits beneath a large Banyan tree, making the natural surroundings part of the spiritual experience.
