Bhagawan’s Speech on Shiridi Sai Baba

Bhagawan’s Speech on Shiridi Sai Baba Speaking on 28th September, 1990; Sri Sathya Sai of Parthi (Prasanthi Nilayam – Puttaparthi) revealed the 28th September 1835; was the birthday of SRI SHIRIDI SAI BABA; He added; “In the former Nizam’s dominions there was a remote village called PATHRI. In that village there were a couple named GANGABHARADYA and DEAGIRI Amma. They were giieving over their lack of children. In answer to their prayers, a son was born to them on September 28th, 1835. That child was SAI BABA, who completed His Avaatar on VIJAYADASMI day in 1918. The life span of Shiridi SAI avaatar was therefor about 83 years. The SUFI FAKIR, who picked up the infant SAI BABA ,looked after him for four years ie; upto 1839. The fakir’s wfe then handed over the boy to Venkusa, a Hindu Scholar and GURU near her house. Sri Shiridi Sai Baba stayed in VENKUSA’S ASHRAM for 12 years from 1839 to 1851 and left for SHIRIDI in 1851. He wondered from place to place and then joined CHANDU PATEL’S brothers son’s marriage party and reached SHIRIDI AGAIN IN THE YEAR 1858. Sri Shiridi Sai Baba stayed there till the end of the AVAATARIC MISSION in 1918: MAHALASAPATHY WAS THE GOLDSMITH TEMPLE PRIEST OF THE KANDDOBA TEMPLE IN SHIRIDI who first invited SRI SAI BABA into the temple saying ‘AYIYE SAI!’ -Come in SAI – and that was how the ‘SAI’ word came into being. Originally it meant “SWAMI” oe an equivalent term of espect but in this second avaatar, of our beloved lord . the meaning has expanded to include the meaning of mother and BABA the common term used for fakirs and muslim Gurus has come to mean ‘father’. SRI SHIRIDI SAI BABA lived all his life at SHIRIDI in the dilapidated masjid. DWARKAMAYEE at SHIRIDI was a place where a ‘fire’ dhuni burned day and night; there was a NEEM PLANT opposite this DWARKAMAYYEE where BABA used to sit. Aunique miraculous event in SHIRIDI SAI BABA’S life was HIS ‘leaving his PHYSICAL BODY IN 1886 AND RETURNING TO IT THREE DAYS LATER.MAHALSAPATHY PROTECTED THE BODY DURING THIS PERIOD. Both SAI’s perform unimaginable miracles; – curing the sick, travelling through space and going to the aid of their devotees in response to the call; materializations of objects from no-where with a mere wave of the DIVINE HAND. ” SHIRIDI SAI BABA told; Smt. SHARADA DEVI alias Pedda Bottu (Gouri) bRN ON 8. 8. 1888; AT 10AM to SMT. Mantthrapragada Ramalaksmi Devi and Sri Venkata Narasimha Rao residents of HYDERABAD WHO AFTER MARRIAGE MOVED WITH HER HUSBAND AND SETTLED DOWN IN SHIRIDI; told her ” I will tell you something, but BEFORE that you should hold my feet and promise me not to tell this to anyone.” She did as she was told by SHIRIDI SAI . Baba then said, ” GOURI, I WILL APPEAR IN ANDHRA WITH THE SAME NAME OF SAI BABA but in another Avaatar (divine manifestation). Then again you will come to me. I will keep you with me and will give you joy.” HER JOY WAS UNLIMITED, SHE ASKED ,” ‘ SHOULD I NOT REVEAL THIS FACT TO ANY-BODY?” BABA confirmed, “NO, you alone will see my second Avaatar, none else will. After you have seen me in my second form, you may tell this to others when occassion arises.” This conversation took place in 1917 between the two of them. She added, that her ailing aunt wanted to see her in RAJAHMUNDRY . It was there when she was in RAJAHMUNDRY in 1918 that she learnt that SRI SHIRIDI SAI BABA hd left His physical body. She said, ” Iwas filled with a kind of inexplicable anguish.” Her aunt too passed away on the Ekadashi day with the LORD’S NAME ON HER LIPS, SHE HAD HAD A DREAM IN WITH baba HIMSELF APPEARED AND CALLED HER TO him. She later spent some years in the HOLY HILLS in the santitiy of SRI CHANDRA YOGI JI MAHARAJ; WHO TOLD HER, “yOU have learnt everything that is to know. Now listen to me carefully. You have to do many more good deeds. The GOD you think you have lost is about to COME into this world soon, for upliftment of the entire HUMANITY. You will not see him in the old form with which you are familiar. He will appear in a NEW CAPTIVATING FORM. He will be the most powerful AVATAR and will do many extraordinary things. Hence return to your place, learn about this lovable GOD and receive your SALVATION.” SO WITH A HEAVY HEART SHE RETURNED TO HYDERABAD; and started a HOME for the poor and destitute children. and also wrote a lot of “HARI KATHAS” AND suplimented her income by this and singing them.

Man is God

Man is God To Hislop With Blessings My Dear! You will find it deep within yourself. Think it many times, ponder it, it tells you about your true nature, it gives you hope, it gives you new life, it points the way, it proves to you that God is within you and you are not man, man is GOD. It shows you that it is possible for you to realize God (Swamiji) but you and you alone must ponder this work deeply, you will find that you will begin to know what is meant by the statement: “the Self” cannot be explained, the mind knows of its existence, “the Self-God” is within man, you are that Self, all else is illusion of the mind’s creation, the mind that creates, preserves, and destroys. My Love! The great joy, the subtlety of the bliss, that you will feel, as you come closer and closer to your Real Self; if you strive to find your self by using your mind, you will strive and strive in vain. Because the mind, cannot give you the truth; a lie cannot give you the truth; a lie can only entangle you in a web of deceit, but if you sensitize yourself, awaken your true, fine, beautiful qualities. Above you – nothing. Below you – nothing, to the right of you or to the left of you – nothing; and dissolve yourself into that nothingness, that would be the best way you could explain the realization of the Self and yet that nothingness would not be the absence of something like the nothingness. That nothingness is the fullness of everything, the power of the existence of that appears to be everything. Baba

Bhagavan Sathya Sai Baba’s 500-year old horoscope

Bhagavan Sathya Sai Baba’s 500-year old horoscope Astrological predictions of Baba’s advent There is an institution in New Delhi known as Indian Astro-Occult Research Association. Dr. E.V. Sastry, a famous and prominent member of the association happened to read the book Sathyam Sivam Sundaram. He then began a search to find out from Nadi Grandham available in Tamil Nadu, about the indications in Baba’s horoscope. It was very strange, wonderful and startling. In these collections of grandhas which are more than five hundred years old and are considered as one of the wonders of the world, were found some parts describing Baba, all of which were not in a single instance, different from what is published about Baba’s life in the book Sathyam Sivam Sundaram. This truth made him wonderstruck. Thereafter, he had great faith in Baba’s greatness and marvelled at the advancement of the science of astrology developed by great sage like Agasthya, Budha and Sukra. Dr. Sastry (it may be mentioned here incidentally that his pen name is ‘Leo’) happened to come to Puttaparthi in November 1960 on the birthday of Baba. On that occasion Dr. Sastry had with him an old palm leaf taken out from the Nadi Grandham, which contained details about Baba written by some incognito, but an old, famous and well learned pandit. On that auspicious day he placed it at the Lotus Feet of Baba and felt gratified. That piece of palm leaf was only 36 centimeters long and 1/2 cms. broad. But within the breadth of 1/2 cms. on either side were 26 lines each containing 250 letters. Several facts were detailed therein. Only with the aid of a most powerful microscope could these letters be read clearly. These descriptions written in old Tamil poetic stanzas, in the form of an essay, were very beautiful, fully apt and highly illuminative. In that, not a single letter or word was redundant of uninformative. Palm leaves of this kind written in Sanskrit, are also found. Dr. K.M. Munshi had said that there are such grandhas written in the Tibetan language also. In Tamil Nadu, there are kept in custody as sole private property, their divisions of the aforementioned palm leaf grandhas, under the names of Agasthya Nadi, Budha and Sukra nadi. Dr. Sastry contacted these three divisions and collected facts about Baba from these different grandhas, detailed according to the planetary position of Baba’s horoscope. What is most astonishing to us in this is that the planetary position indicated in all the three grandhas at the time of Baba’s birth into this world is identically the same without any difference whatsoever. In each of these, facts are enumerated in the form of poetry and past and present incidents in Baba’s life are so truly described that we are awe-stricken at the accuracy and information. After reading all this we are struck with wonder at our ancestor’s predictions of events that was done accurately without any mistake, and at the perfection of the science of astrology which has enabled them to predict so. In one Nadi Grandhas the following is said: “The person to whom this horoscope relates, in his previous birth was Sai Baba, who was a famous Maharishi. He was also a world famous Sad Guru!” Another Nadi says, “I am an avatar of Sai”. This fact cannot be contradicted also. In all three Nadis, the names of his father and mother are mentioned, clearly, truly and accurately. In addition, another fact clearly mentioned in these is, “the person to whom this horoscope relates, whose name is Sathyanarayana Raju, will renounce the world in his boyhood, will start schools and hospitals, will publish books for the upliftment of the world, will spend every day of his whole lifetime for the establishment of dharma, which is his ideal and objective.” Another fact written in Budha Nadi is, “the person to whom this horoscope relates will spend the whole of his lifetime always enjoying the bliss derived from uniting jivatma with paramatma.” In Agastheya Nadi it is mentioned that Baba will be an all merciful avatar of God. Not only that, but is it also mentioned the He will be, Akkilathara pitha i.e. authority on manava vamsam, preceptor, protector, and father of the world. In Sukra Nadi it is written, “Baba will have all the siddhis possessed by Sai Baba; by love, kidness and knowledge he will establish eternal bliss in this world. He will establish a mandir which will be conducive for practising tapas etc.” On top of all this is another important passage in Sukra Nadi, i.e. “the person to whom this horoscope relates will be an avatar amongst the avatars”. Another sentence is, “He will derive immense pleasure in the service of mankind.” Those who are fortunate enough to have darshan of Baba and enjoyed the bliss of hearing His nectar-like words, and seen every action of His filled with mercy and sweetness and those who are able to understand at least one tenth of a millionth part of that great truth, even without the necessity of knowing what is mentioned in these Nadis, have understood the greatness of Baba. But, even for them, the fact about His coming into being, written separately, several centuries before His incarnation by three special expert astrologers, detailing his horoscope aspects, describing His character which is in no way different from what we see now in Him, is an agreeable surprise.

Avatar in Islam Date: Tue, 22 Sep 1998 00:59:47 EDTFrom: Fakir9@aol.comTo: sai-disc@sainet.orgSubject: Re: Question of Formless Bill Benson wrote: “Hence identifying with God starts with the visible input of a form, living or idol, and is followed by a sharper inner eye perception of the visible form. It is only when one is spiritually elevated does the external stimulusof physical visibility diminish as a factor of realization and acceptance of the formless and infinite.” Sai Ram! Peace be on you from my heart to yours! If you read my postings Islam Eternal Part 8 and 10 on Form and Formless you will see that the view expressed above while correct for many is not universal. If you will, for the sake of making myself clear, please keep in mind that it is one thing to adore, love and seek aid from a Form but a very different thing to call that Form by the word GOD. If by God one means an OMNIPRESENT, OMNISCIENT and OMNIPOTENT Consciousness/Being then how can what the senses(which can percieve only the measurable) report easily/naturally depict the Infinite (not measurable by the senses) ? I believe that any form is God but I don’t see how it is the natural thing inthe begining. I accept that for many it is natural to worship a particular Form as God. Beloved Sai’s statement that you need a Form to get to the Formless need to be examined very carefully because any simplistic understanding of this statement can lead to serious misunderstanding between people who believe in God as Formless Being/Consciousness and those who do not. The fact is that such a distinct and simplistic division already exists among the masses and a misunderstanding of Baba’s statements on this issue can add fuel to the existing prejudices. In my view Baba does not mean that you need (unless that is natural to you) to see God as a Form first but that you do need to use one or more Forms to relate to the Formless Reality. For Muslims the Forms such as the Holy Kaba and the figure of the Sheikh (Spiritual Master) are means not the end. Forms for us are means to focus our minds on God. Existence of spiritual giants within the Islamic and Jewish traditions are ample proofs in support of my view point. The same perhaps could be said in different terminologies about the Zen Buddhists and some Christian sects. From my perspective which represents the Islamic viewpoint it is easier to accept in the begining that THAT / HE / SHE / COSMIC CONSCIOUSNESS / GOD which created / gave rise to the cosmos and beyond, can not be limited by any sense. A Form initially represents a limit. Everything that the senses (which can not capture the Infinite) percieve are in the Quran “Signs of God” “for those who understand.” Through contemplating on many ‘signs’ and in particular by focusing on those ‘Signs’ that blurs the distinction between finite and Infinite such as the seemingly infinite selfless love/compassion of a Master one can begin to feel with the heart (sense without senses) the Universal relating to the particular through these ‘Signs’. These ‘Signs’ beacons the seeker to dive ever deeper until he/she realizes LA ILAHA ILLALLAH (there is nothing other than God/Sureme Reality). At that state which we call Fana (Extinction) the ‘Signs’ are more than ‘Signs’: everything is God. Kabir said “It is easy to understand how forms dissolve into the Formless (the particular dissolving into the Universal), but very few can understand that the Universal merges into the particular.” The implication is that Man as God is a highly sophisticated concept experienced first by Yogis/Holy Men/Holy Women/Prophets. In my view the fact that Hindus so easily worship God as a Form first, does not necessarily imply that vast majority have an understanding of how the particular Form is also the Universal. It operates primarily as a belief system. Devotion however overcomes any lack of Jnana to take one to God Realization. How many Sai devotees can honestly claim that they have experienced Sai as God? For most of us it is a belief. For to know God is to be God. Only God can know God as God. How can our limited consciousness know God the Infinite except by a ‘sensing without senses’ something in our hearts and then take a ‘leap of faith’? No wonder Baba says He can count the number of His true devotees with His fingers.

Aura of Divinity

Aura of Divinity It is often said that Divine personalities have an aura about them. Some scientists believe that all living beings, including plants, have an aura. This is not visible to the eye but can be photographed by a technique known as Kirlian photography. Dr. Frank Baronowski, a Professor in Arizona State University in America, is an expert in this field. He not only photographs aura but is blessed with the rare gift of being able to see the aura directly with his eyes. In 1979, he came to India to make a study of aura of holy men in the country. Inevitably, his travels brought him to Baba, who was then in Bangalore. At the time Baronowski reached Whitefield, a course arranged by Baba for school teachers was in progress. Baronowski heard about this and was naturally keen to speak in the conference, sharing his numerous experiences. Baba knew about this and in His own way made it possible. But first, Baronowski had to see something he had never seen before! The Professor’s first glimpse of Swami was during the early morning Darshan. In those days, Swami used to give Darshan at the conclusion of the Nagarsankeertan, the early morning prayer/Bhajan procession that one can see to this day in Prasanti Nilayam. Baronowski was stunned by what he saw – Baba’s aura was simply out of this world. He saw it again and again – during the morning Darshan and the afternoon Darshan. He saw how this extra-ordinary aura enveloped one and all, believers and non-believers alike, those who were directly looking at Him and those whose attention was wandering. Later, Baronowski was given the opportunity to speak during the conference proceedings, in the immediate presence of Bhagavan Baba. Here is an extract of what he said: I have met over a hundred holy men in India. Too many of these holy men are involved in their own personal egos. Their auras show mostly concern for themselves and their institutions. So, the auras are only about 25 cm. broad or perhaps 50 cm. I am not a devotee of Sai Baba. I have come here as a scientist, to see this man Sai Baba. I saw Him on Sunday, on the balcony giving Darshan to devotees below. The aura that Baba projected was not that of a man. The white was more than twice the size of any man’s, the blue was practically limitless, and there were gold and silver bands beyond even those, far beyond this building, right up to the horizon. There is no scientific explanation for this phenomenon. His aura is so strong that it is affecting me standing by the chair on which He is sitting. I can feel the effect and I have to wipe my arm, off and on, as you must have noticed. It is very difficult for me to admit. I am a scientist. I have given over six thousand lectures in all parts of the world, but this is the first time, believe me, my knees are shaking. The aura that emanates from Baba shows His Love for you. I have met any number of holy men, but none of them have made themselves as available to you as Baba does. That is a sign of greatness. I have been watching Baba, while He was addressing you. The pink aura that was manifesting was so vast and strong that it went even to the hall behind this chair. It filled the big hall, embracing all of you here. There can be no scientific explanation for this phenomenon. I have watched Him for a week now as He walked among you, morning and evening. I have seen this aura, pink in colour, go into the person He is talking to or touching. This is because we draw on His energy. His energy seems to be limitless. It spreads everywhere and can be drawn upon by everyone around. An ordinary man will soon get exhausted going round as He does, among so many. I have watched Him come to a little girl, in a wheel chair and tickle her. I was astounded at the aura of Love that was all around Him then.

An Avatar’s Words

An Avatar’s Words Only an Avatar (incarnation of God) could say those words. Lesser souls like seers, spiritual aspirants, great souls ascetics, and realized persons would not have the courage to utter them, and even if they mustered enough strength, the words would not have the ring of authenticity. About four years ago, I went from Bangalore to Puttaparthi by night train. When I reached the place by 10 A.M. I peeped into the old temple near the village on my way to the new ashram and was shocked by the heavy cloud of sadness that hung over it. Baba” brother –in-law (as we, with our limited family outlook, do prattle in delusion) Sri Subba Raju, Baba’s sister’s husband, who was also his maternal uncle, had passed away the previous evening and was buried late at night. I had known him as a good and active worker at the Prashanthi Nilayam, with a kind enquiry always on his lips, and so I was overwhelmed with sorrow. I also felt great anguish when I thought of the bereaved lady and her only son, a sweet little boy. With a heavy heart I moved towards the Nilayam, half apprehensive to meet there the stricken brother and nephew (Baba) and doubting all the time whether the words I might use would be enough to express my sorrow and convey my sympathy in front of Him. The bereaved lady was evidently inside the Nilayam for her lamentation could be heard out side. Dark despair lay thick on every face and all were eagerly watching Baba’s lips, waiting for His words. Since I had not yet heard those words which only an Avatar could say, I had foolishly manufactured on my way to Prashanti Nilayam a sentence of consolation in the conventional style to be spoken to Him. But luckily, before I could commit that sacrilege, Baba looked at me with a be witching smile and, seeing my tears, He said, “Why? What is this? Don’t you know me? If there is no birth and no death, how am I to pass my time? And then He laughed! “How am I?… “Birth and death”… pass my time”?… What a profound utterance and before what an audience and against what a background! I saw before me not Baba with a physical body 28 years old, but an Avatar of the Lord Himself. Who else could have the courage? Who else could infuse into those words that true ring of authenticity? Ponder over this, … Brother reader, that is my prayer.  SWAMI says: The principle of Atma is one and same in all, be it yogi or bhogi. A yogi renunciant or varagi. It is present in theists and also atheists, But you are unable to recognize this all-pervasive Divinity. You are undertaking various spiritual practices should confer the awareness that Divinity is all-pervasive just as fire is needed till the rice is cooked, so also the spiritual practices are needed till you realize the innate Divinity… -Baba

A Message for Mankind

A Message for Mankind In 1940, Sathya was barely fourteen years old. Yet, such was the faith of the masses in His Divinity that people flocked, young and old, rich and poor. Included in this crowd of devotees were Maharajahs and members of the landed gentry. Besides, the Press also began take notice. Elder brother Seshama Raju, not yet fully aware of Baba’s Divinity, began to worry about the impact of the attention that his younger brother was receiving. Would this adoration go to the head of young Sathya? Would He fall a victim to various temptations? Seshama Raju conveyed his anxiety to Baba, who sent a reply on 25th May, 1947. Though the letter was intended for Seshama Raju, it was in fact addressed to ‘all who are devoted to Me’. That letter is a powerful declaration of the purpose of the Sai Avatar. In that letter, Baba wrote: My dear One! I received all the communication that you sent. I found in it the surging floods of your devotion and affection, with the undercurrents of doubts and anxiety. Let Me tell you that it is impossible to plumb the hearts and discover the nature of Jnanis [Wise men], Yogis, ascetics, saints, sages, and the like. People are endowed with a variety of characteristics and mental attitudes; so, each one judges according his own angle, talks and argues in the light of his own nature. But we have to stick to our own path, our own wisdom, and our own resolution, without getting affected by popular appraisal. As the proverb says, it is only the fruit-laden tree that receives the shower of stone from the passersby. The good always provoke the bad into calumny; the bad always provoke the good into doing more good; this is the nature of the world. One must be surprised if such things do not happen. People too have to be pitied rather than condemned. They do not know. They have no patience to judge right. They are too full of lust, anger, and conceit to see clearly and know fully. So, they write all sorts of things. If only they know, they would refrain from writing or talking like that. We too should not attach any value to such comments and take them to heart, as you seem to do. Truth will certainly triumph some day. Untruth can never win. Untruth might appear to over-power Truth, but its victory would fade away and Truth would establish itself. It is not the way of the great to swell when people offer worship and shrink when people cool off. As a matter of fact, no sacred text lays down rules to regulate the lives of the great, prescribing habits and attitudes they must adopt. They themselves know the path they must take. Their wisdom regulates and makes their acts holy. Self-reliance and beneficial activity – these two are their special marks. They may also be engaged in the promotion of the welfare of devotees and in giving them the fruits of their actions. Why should you be affected by doubt and worry, so long as I am adhering to these two? After all, praise and blame do not touch the Atma; they can touch only the outer frame. I will never give up those who attach themselves to Me. When I am thus engaged in My beneficial task, how can My Name be ever tarnished, as you apprehend? I would advise you not to heed to such absurd talk. Mahatmas do not acquire greatness through someone calling them so; they do not become small just because some calls them small. Only those low ones who revel in opium but claim to be unexcelled Yogis, only those who quote scriptural texts to justify their gourmandry and pride, only those who are dry-as-dust scholars exulting in their argumentative skill, are moved by praise and blame.

Advent of the Sai Avatar

Advent of the Sai Avatar “…And I saw heaven open and behold a white horse and he that sat upon was called Faithful and True and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.” John 17:Revelations The above passage appears in the New Testament of the Holy Bible (John  Ch.17).  This description of the descent of God is strikingly similar to that of the description appearing in the Puranas of Hinduism, heralding the coming of the Kalhi Avathar – the soldier with a sword, mounting a white horse, at the dawn of the Kali Era.  Though the scriptures are from different religious backgrounds, the message, once again seems to be that, “God is One.”  Is it just pure coincidence or the prediction of the future?  Examining the evidence, one comes to the conclusion that the avathar who is spoken of in the scriptures is no other than Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba himself. In the Song Celestial or Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna, the 9th incarnation of Godhead declares, “Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendent of Bharata, and a predominant rise of irreligion – at that time I descend Myself(4:7).” Presently, the world is in the throngs of evil and violence, a turbulent times desperately needing a deliverer.  Hence, it seems an incarnation of God is inevitable. Referring again to the verse from the Bible mentioned earlier, it speaks of He who is called Faithful and True, and he in righteousness, judges and makes war. Bhagwan Sai is hailed as the personification of Truth and is known as Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Sai of Truth.  Furthermore, the verse from the Bible goes on to say, “…His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns.  He had a name written that no man knew but he himself, and he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood…”  It is a well known fact that Bhagwan Sai wears orange robes, his hair is curly and appears as a crown and is known to, miraculously, cure the diseased and the unbelieving with his vision, unparalleled by any other.  Hence, Was St. John, the apostle of Jesus, granted a vision of the future Sai Avathar thousands of years ago, during the time of Christ? Even if the answer is a “No,” the striking similarities of the details mentioned in the Revelation section of the Holy Bible is too significant to be ignored as  pure coincidence. “To deliver the pious and annihilate the miscreants, as well as to re-establish the principles of religion, I myself appear millennium after millennium (4:8)” declares Lord Krishna at the battlefield of Kurukshetra.  Similarly Swami speaks of his mission “…to spread happiness or ananda and so I am always ready to come among you, and to correct the buddhi or the intelligence.  I have come to counsel, help, command, condemn and stand by as a friend and well-wisher to all, so that they may give up evil prosperities and recognize the straight path” of Dharma or righteousness.   It is clear how Swami emphasizes the importance of right conduct and truth in our personal lives, leading to the realization of the soul. Hilda Charlton, a foreign devotee of Swami, had the fortune of seeing a vision of a white horse above Bhagwan Baba’s head during bhajans at Prashanthi.  Though at the time she was unaware of its significance, she inquired among her Indian devotees of the vision’s meaning and later found out the white horse is the mount of Lord Kalhi, the tenth and final incarnation of Vishnu at the end of the Kali Yug.  Therefore, it is without doubt that Lord Sai is indeed the Kalhi Avathar, as predicted by the ancient Hindu scriptures such as the Puranas and Ithihasas. Hinduism, one of the world’s oldest living faiths, relies mostly on the word of God passed down through the vision of the sages.  According to such ancient scriptures an avathar of Godhead can be recognized by his seven ‘cosmic characteristics’. Surprisingly not, Bhagwan Baba displays the seven characteristics of splendour, wisdom, powers to create, preserve and destroy, prosperity and non-attachment thoroughly in his daily life.  His miracles of various nature; from materializing vibhuthi, gem stones and necklaces to manifesting himself at foreign lands, quoting and speaking eloquently of any ancient scriptures, languages known to man to even interfering with nature to protect his devotees are true testaments of his Supreme Consciousness.  He is constantly in a state of ananda or bliss and possesses an aura of love upto thirty feet, curing diseases and past karmas of everyone that comes in contact with him.  Hence, Bhagwan Baba meets all criteria of avatharhood as outlined by the sacred scriptures of Hinduism. However, one can raise the question that “Why does Baba not look like a soldier and ride a white horse as mentioned in the scriptures, if he is the Kalhi Avathar?”  The pundits of India respond that the form of a soldier and the white horse are symbolic and are not to be taken literally.  Imagine, at the present time, someone mounting a white horse dressed as a medieval Indian soldier, complete with a sword and a shield?  Baba has often joked that if he were to appear on earth as Vishnu portrayed in our shrine pictures, with a blue complexion, four hands, the changku, chakra and katha and padma, we would put him in a museum and charge fees to see him!  Hence, the Lord takes on the form that can be related to by humans, so that we too, may inspire to become God.  But, Baba’s discourses and teachings are representative of the sword that destroys all evil, his white Benz in the earlier days of the white horse mount and he is indeed a soldier of peace and deliverance. If one is still unconvinced, the declarations made by Swami himself reveal his true divine nature.  On a fateful day in July of 1980, Bhagwan Baba declared

Spiritual Hunger

Spiritual Hunger 16-12-73 My Dear! Have you got any spiritual hunger? Spiritual hunger is the ultimate meaning of every activity in life. The dissatisfaction and the restlessness that remain even after obtaining all the necessities of life show that everyone consciously or unconsciously, does suffer from spiritual hunger and it is not appeased until the spirit within is realised. Without this divine discontent there is no real progress. World peace is possible when all the people of the world wake up to the facts governing universal life and when there is a heart to heart feeling of goodness, Love and oneness among the inhabitants of the world. human values, the nine gems

Within You is the Real Happiness

Within You is the Real Happiness Message You as body, mind or soul are a dream, but what you really are is Existence, Knowledge, Bliss. You are the God of this universe. You are creating the whole universe and drawing it in. To gain the infinite universal individuality, the miserable little prison individuality must go. Bhakti is no crying or any negative condition, it is seeing of all in all we see. It is the heart that reaches the goal, follow the heart. A pure heart seeks beyond the intellect, it gets inspired. Whatever we do reacts upon us. If we do good, we shall have happiness and if evil, unhappiness. Within you is the real happiness, within you is the mighty ocean of nectar divine. Seek it within you, feel it, feel it, it is here, the self. It is not the body, the mind, the intellect, the brain. It is not the desire of the desiring. It is not the object of desire. Above all these, you are. All these are simply manifestations. You appear as the smiling flower, as the twinkling stars. What is there in the world which can make you desire anything? With BlessingsBaba (A letter given to a group of devotees from USA. First published in Sanathana Sarathi of 1973)
