Kapila Avatar
Who is Kapila Muni? Kapila is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He is the father of Sankhya Philosophy, which explains the distinction between Purusha (soul) and Prakriti (matter). He appeared in Satya Yuga as the son of Sage Kardama and Devahuti. Scriptural References Why Did Lord Vishnu Take the Kapila Avatar? To correct the corrupted forms of Sankhya that had become atheistic. To guide seekers toward liberation through analytical understanding. To educate Devahuti and through her, the world, in the way of Jnana Yoga (the path of knowledge). To reveal the nature of soul (Purusha) and its entanglement in material nature (Prakriti). Symbolism of Kapila Avatar Jata (matted hair) and glowing aura symbolize renunciation and spiritual fire. Seated in meditation, often near a fire or surrounded by disciples. Associated with Sankhya and Jnana Yoga, unlike other action-based avatars.
